Florida State University is committed to supporting faculty development in all areas: teaching, research, and service. Faculty recognition was incorporated into the Dean of the Faculties Office (now Office of Faculty Development and Advancement) in 2009 to facilitate award readiness, award application and nomination, and award management. The staff works to discover and remedy institutional barriers to faculty award pursuit and attainment, provides direct support to faculty by collecting and reviewing award nomination and application materials, and educates faculty, chairs, and deans on award opportunities.
Faculty at Florida State University are encouraged to consider awards at every career stage, for awards promote extraordinary work and enable the best faculty to fulfill their potential by giving them a national platform and international connections to colleagues. We encourage faculty to contact us, to attend award application workshops, and to engage award winners on campus as peer reviewers and mentors.
The Faculty Awards Catalog was built specifically for Florida State University. The catalog currently houses information on over 5000 professional awards, applicable to work in all 17 colleges. The catalog may be searched by department, discipline, sponsoring organization, key word, or tag (e.g., TARU, AAU, Fellow status, etc.). Anyone with an FSUID may access the catalog from the Office of Faculty Development and Advancement website: fda.fsu.edu or by visiting netprod.its.fsu.edu/AwardCatalog.
