SSSP - C. Wright Mills Award
Organization: Society for the Study of Social Problems
Consistent with Mills' dedication to a search for a sophisticated understanding of the individual and society, the award will be given for that book published in the previous year that most effectively: critically addresses an issue of contemporary public importance, brings to the topic a fresh, imaginative perspective, advances social scientific understanding of the topic, displays a theoretically informed view and empirical orientation, evinces quality in style of writing, explicitly or implicitly contains implications for courses of action.Eligible books must bear a copyright date from the immediate previous year. Edited volumes, textbooks, fiction and self-published works are not eligible. Members of the society are encouraged to submit letters of nomination for this prestigious annual award.
