SCMS - Pedagogy Award

SCMS has long recognized the value of pedagogy, devoting numerous panels and workshops to the subject at annual conferences and appointing a standing Teaching Committee. Cinema Journal likewise has devoted space to essays and special sections focused on teaching practice, philosophy, and innovation. In recognizing that continued development within our field relies on dedicated mentorship, as well as useful and influential materials, SCMS will confer an annual Pedagogy Award for outstanding pedagogical achievement in Cinema and Media Studies. SCMS will present a plaque and a check for $500 to the winner at the annual conference. Nominations for the second SCMS Pedagogy Award are invited from the membership. The Pedagogy Award Committee will judge nominees on pedagogical achievement in some or all of the following areas:Instruction; Publication and Development of; Educational Materials; Service/Value in Cinema and Media Studies Pedagogy.
