SAM - Irving Lowens Award for Best Article

The Irving Lowens Article Award is offered by the Society for American Music each year for an article that, in the judgment of the awards committee, makes an outstanding contribution to the study of American music or music in America. Articles eligible for consideration include studies on any aspect of music of the United States, together with investigations of American practices as they inform and intersect with musical cultures and traditions beyond U.S. national boundaries. All articles appearing during the 2006 calendar year are eligible, regardless of the date formally indicated in the publication. Authors may nominate their own work.
