Newberry - Monticello College Foundation Fellowship for Women
Organization: Newberry Library
This award is designed for a post-doctoral woman at an early stage of her academic career whose work gives clear promise of scholarly productivity and who would benefit significantly from six months of research, writing, and participation in the intellectual life of the Library. The applicant's topic should be related to the Newberry's collections; preference will be given to proposals particularly concerned with the study of women. The tenure of this fellowship is six months with a stipend of $20,000. Long-term fellowships are available to post-doctoral scholars for periods of six to eleven months. Applicants for post-doctoral awards must hold the Ph.D. at the time of application. These grants support individual research and promote serious intellectual exchange through active participation in the Library's scholarly activities, including a biweekly fellows' seminar. The stipend for these fellowships is up to $40,000 unless specified under the award description. Applicants may combine these fellowship awards with sabbatical or other stipendiary support. Scholars may apply for any of the long-term fellowships using the same application.
